These two tracks were made for Global Game Jam 2022 (my first game jam ever). For those of you unfamiliar with game jams, you typically assemble a team and work to make a game in a limited amount of time. We had 48 hours.

Global Game Jam 2022 Theme: Duality

Title of our game: The Turret at the End of Time

Our integration of the theme: There are 2 different types of enemies, and you can only hit one type of enemy in each mode. This results in the player needing to swap modes/environments multiple times in order to kill all the enemies.

I was tasked with making a battle theme for this game. I was given 2 reference tracks from NieR and told to try and recreate that style.

I thought it'd be fun to make 2 versions of the battle theme, so that when the player swaps modes, the music changes along with the game environment. NieR has something similar with 8-bit versions of the orchestral tracks.

I also hastily wrote menu music, but we did not have time to make a menu screen, so the music did not get used.

Wow, how beautiful this is. Total getaway music to either sit in a forest and meditate to, or if you don't have that, close the curtains and your eyes, then drift away. Amidst that, there is some laudable musicianship in each song. Not to mention the unique take on the original score by merging some well-known traditional pieces from a range of different origins. I can't stress how good this made me feel when listening to it...multiple times over. Peter O Void
